Transhumanism simply stated, is a materialistic movement which promotes the idea that humans can transcend into “Future humans,” (man which evolve beyond the current physical and mental limitations) with super intelligence and ultimate happiness. The end goal is to defy death and ensure immortality with the help of scientific techniques such as bio, nano, robotic technologies, artificial intelligence, etc.
During the 1960’s, people jumped on this bandwagon to cryogenically freeze their bodies (corpses) and preserve them in Dewar ( a type of vacuum flask named after Dewar) capsules in the hope of reanimating after new technology arrived. Resuscitation however requires thawing, and this comes with the risk of cracking internal and external organs into tens of thousands of pieces. Rebuilding a body's 100 trillion cells at the molecular level is a Herculean task that could require more sophisticated nanobots (nanobots are robots that have nanoscale components at the scale of a 10−9 meters).
To avoid this obstacle and return to life, transhumanists embraced the idea of cryopreserving one's head and attaching a synthetic body or robot to enjoy a fuller human/machine life. The ultimate objective of transhumanism is to digitally copy part of the brain’s structure ( the part that processes consciousness) or entire brain, download the conscious mind into a computer, and live forever in silica.
Though modern technologies benefit man in many ways, it is ludicrous to assume that the universe and life are programmable. Stating that we can upload human consciousness, simulate the brain, attain immortal personhood and a “materialistic Utopia” by denigrating the natural man reminds me of the following joke… A scientist called God and said, “Hey God, I'm going to make a plant. Let me go get some soil and seed.” God replied. “Go get your own soil.”
Can a man truly fathom how complex the human brain is? In just one minute, your brain would have processed 1,200 quadrillion bits of information. That is 12, followed by 17 zeros. (There are 100 billion neurons in the brain. Each neuron fires 200 times/second, and each neuron connects to about 1000 other neurons). Does anyone know what goes on in a millimeter of a functioning human brain? No one!
The Bible teaches us that God created man in His image, however, the materialist who embraces evolution now takes control of evolution and makes man in man’s own image.
